Google just put an AI chatbot in every classroom, for every single grade.
Up until now, Gemini in Classroom was limited to higher-ed students 18 and older. That changes starting August 10th, when Google expands access to K-12 and higher-ed students "of all ages," according to its own announcement.

What's Actually Changing
It's not opt-in for the youngest kids anymore. Any student whose admin has already granted access to Gemini in Classroom, Gemini, or Gemini Notebook now gets a "guided space to interact with these tools" -- regardless of age.
It does more than chat. Students can select course materials and have Gemini turn them into flashcards or practice quizzes tailored to their specific class. Gemini Notebook users can also generate interactive study guides and audio overviews from teacher-provided materials.
It's fast. Full rollout starts August 10th on the web, and August 17th on mobile -- about a week apart.
The Bigger Picture
This is the biggest single expansion yet of AI directly into the K-12 classroom experience, and it's happening on Google's own timeline, not a slow opt-in rollout. If your kid's school uses Google Classroom, there's a good chance this is already switched on for them by default once their admin enables it.
